Park Adventure

The Husbando  and I went to a park today, we had a good time! We walked, talked a lot, saw some swans and a squirrel  (I didn't know we had those in Kentucky), and got way to hot and sweaty.

I had planned on doing some knitting at the park but instead we went for a nice little walk around the trail and talked a lot. It was really nice to spend time with him. We talked about how I get tired of knitting for others, which sounds selfish but knitting is "me time" and I'm a process knitter and I put a lot of pressure on myself to make handknits perfect if they are gifts. It sometimes makes knitting not so fun, especially since I already spend a lot of my dedicated to helping others around the homestead and the animals etc. He helped clear my head and told me it's okay to want to knit just for me and that maybe next year I shouldn't try to knit gifts for everyone for Christmas. I agree. He's very smart, and very caring, just a few reasons I married him. 

Then we talked about books and how I'm not in the mood for mysteries or things gritty, how I want to reread Harry Potter but worry people will think I'm weird, how I want Oprah Book Club-esque style books and memoirs. He told me it's okay to read those kinds of books, that reading is for fun, he also pointed out there are people who rewatch TV shows over and over again so there really isn't anything weird with rereading my favorite book series. 

He's a swell guy. He interrupts my knitting, blows his nose in an annoying way, talks too loud late at night, and is messy as heck, but he's really really perfect for me. I'm glad we got to spend the day together.

Which is the story of how I spent my afternoon reading Harry Potter and knitting my Nell's Sea Silk Scarf.

Today's blanket square is the Mesh Pattern and I am feeling LOVED. 

ALSO Halloween candy SO EXCITED. 

Farm Chores and More

Today was a busy day on the homestead. Since mom had the day off she decided we were taking advantage of it by cleaning the hen coop and guinea fowl coop, washing horse water buckets, cleaning the barn, things like that. Very busy.

My baby boy Jay Jay was just happy to get extra hay.

These guys, not so much, they yelled at us a lot.

So I didn't get any knitting done in the morning, it was busy, hot, and sweaty. But that's farm life. The animals come first. Always.

Then I baked brown sugar chocolate chip cookies because mom and my sister had been asking me to make them and it's my sister's first day back at work.

And then before and after dinner I got quite a bit of work done on my mom's Christmas Snow Day Slippers all I have to do for the first one is finish the footed knitting! 

Then I did some porch knitting on the honey cowl and stockinette stitched my blanket square which is a busy one today! 

It's been a good day, but a very very busy day where I have done a lot. 

Mom's Day Off

I got to sleep in today, until 10am actually, so I woke up feeling extremely well rested.

On top of that I had had a horrible night where I argued with someone I am related to by marriage and felt shitty overall at the end of the day.

But today I woke up rested, and Tory got her package! She loved it! Which makes me SO HAPPY!

And it's my mom's day off, which means she makes lunch for the family, which I look forward too. It's one of those little things that brightens my day. She makes grilled cheese and cuts the crust off mine, and I bought asparagus for us to share since we are the only two in the family who like it. It's been a nice relaxed day.

And today marks a new Dishcloth Weekly Knit A Long and it's FALL THEMED! I LOVE FALL! And I've been promising The Husbando a washcloth since I joined this group, so this one is perfect for him!

Before I could start it though, I went out to help with barn chores and play with the animals on this beautiful day.

Then I could start the Dishcloth once in! I did 3 rows of the garter stitch border and a few more rounds on the hat.

There is method to my madness for using that yarn for the Campfire dishcloth, I swear! 

Today I did a homey comfortable blanket square in an attempted mini version of the dishcloth, you can't see the pattern much, it doesn't mini well apparently. And I'm on my second row of the blanket.

It's been a good day, a relaxed, homey day. A much needed day after a wave of blue yesterday. I am happy.

Sleepy Saturday

Saturday and it's actually not a million degrees here in Kentucky. There's a nice breeze. The chores got done at a nice steady pace, I even gave Lucy the foxhound puppy in our house a bath (much needed, she likes rolling in dirt, and had a four day old ketchup stain on her mouth). The husbando is working on fixing our fan while playing his strange but soothing music. My sister is laying on the couch with the cats playing video games. My dad is mowing the lawn. It's relaxing, there is a steady rythme and pulse to it.

So all in all, it's been a very relaxing morning. Perfect for some reading and knitting.

And look at the pretty little visitor on the porch. 

But of course I didn't actually get any knitting done this morning. With how nice it was outside I went out and played with the horses. Jay Jay and The Big Guy were stealing sunflowers from the sunflower patch. And mom and Princess were getting some quality time. It was perfect out.

It's been quite a homey little day. A nice, cool day with the animals that makes my heart feel all warm and fuzzy. So today I did some porch knitting, watched the clouds, and knit a homey, comfortable blanket square in Waved Welt Pattern

Now I'm going to try and finish my dishcloth tonight. 

100 page views, potbelly pig, and an OBGYN.

The blog has gotten 100 pages views! Hooray! No followers yet so I'm still not sure if anyone is reading this but if you are, I love you.

Today has been interesting. Our potbelly pig, who is a rescue and my mom's baby knocked down part of his pen. He's very sweet, very old, he came with the name Bacon, and my mom adores and spoils him. Luckily, because he is so sweet he didn't really mind that his pen was knocked over and let my dad work on fixing it without much of a fuss. He just wanted his shower and refilled mud puddle. So all in all, crisis averted. I distracted the horses with treats, dad fixed the pen, everyone is happy. Farm life is never dull.

He's a happy guy. 

Okay so today I had to make an OBGYN appointment. I am a trans man, I use he and him pronouns and am a guy, but I have, you know, a vagina. So it needs routine checkups and I've been have some spoonie problems with it that make me worried I may have Ovarian Cysts which run in my family. ( Read more on the spoons theory here and Transequality has good definitions  if you are ever confused on that.) 

I must have called and been redirected to ten different offices. They were either not taking new patients, didn't take my insurance, or redirected me back to my main doctors office! I have to much phone anxiety for that! And still no OBGYN appointment was made! It was irritating and a total was of spoons and time. I wished there was a way I could explain to someone all the information I have, what I need, and get exactly what I'm looking for in a redirect. Bahhh. I've never needed a shirt that says "I'd rather be knitting!" more in my life!

So then I tried a new stitch for my blanket square which Can Be Found Here and involved wrapping the yarn twice around the needle. It went poorly and ended in frogging.

But...frogitaboutit. I'm still having a good day. I just decided to do simple knit stitch so I could read more Death By Cashmere and knit the square at the same time. Life is returning to normal and I'm happy for that.
